We Are Hiring An Organizer!

Eye on Surveillance (EOS) is seeking a part-time contractor to fulfill the role of Organizer for a six-month term. Posting will remain open until filled.

About the position: As EOS’s Organizer, you will work jointly with current coalition members to plan our monthly meetings, maintain existing and build new relationships with organizations and individuals across the City of New Orleans, and help us implement our strategic plan, which focuses on community engagement and creating a vision of safety for New Orleans that doesn’t rely on policing, surveillance, and criminalization.

About you: You’d be a good fit for this role if...

  1. You have deep ties to New Orleans and believe that our current system of safety isn’t working, especially for black New Orleanians
  2. You are organized and familiar with Google Suite (Docs, Calendar, Sheets)
  3. You would be comfortable representing EOS and able to clearly communicate our anti-surveillance/pro-safety platform at community and neighborhood meetings
  4. You have experience, familiarity, or interest in how city budgets are allocated
  5. You are committed to understanding how surveillance is tied to anti-Palestinian racism and the prison/military/border industrial complexes
  6. You are able to take initiative, work independently with guidance from coalition members, and ask questions

It is appreciated, but not required, if you ...

  1. Are bilingual Spanish/English
  2. Have familiarity with Canva + social media management
  3. Have previous organizing/community engagement experience

Pay: This is a part-time employment/limited service contract position for a term of 6 months with possibility to extend. Expected time commitment is 20 hours a week, with some evening/weekend times. Pay is $35/hour, benefits not included.

To apply: Please share a letter of interest and resume to jobs@eyeonsurveillance.org
