In 2025, EOS partnered with MediaJustice, Fight For the Future and various local organizations to fight against a live facial recognition ordinance that aimed to approve this dangerous, racist tech on all city cameras. Thanks to dedicated and persistent community organizing, this ordinance got withdrawn. As a product of this months long fight, MediaJustice, Fight For the Future, and EOS produced the factsheet: Surveillance is Not Safety that detailed the fight, the harms of surveillance and the research that inevitably highlights the fact that surveillance will never bring us safety.
