How to Identify and Map Project NOLA Cameras

What is Project NOLA (PN)?

PN is a private, unaccountable spy corporation based in New Orleans. They have over 5000 cameras used to track every person in our city. Their primary purpose is to facilitate NOPD bypassing mass surveillance and privacy protections. Live facial recognition is banned according to city law in New Orleans, PN gets to use live facial recognition by exploiting their status as a non-profit and circumventing the law. Until this day, Project NOLA shares information, livestreams and facial recognition data with NOPD, violating city law that bans facial recognition.

The first step to protect ourselves is to identify where Project Nola is spying on New Orleans.

How to Identify the Spy Network

When looking for PN cameras we want to have these criteria in mind:

  • Invasive Placement: While many businesses have security cameras, Project Nola cameras overlook areas beyond a business’s immediate perimeter.
  • Expensive: PN cameras will look expensive, larger and have mounts and/or have flashing lights and 360 rotation.
  • Similarity: PN buys in bulk. Their latest facial recognition cameras look like the examples above and below.
