Prince Holmes, a beloved community leader, was severely harmed by racist facial recognition and NOPD negligence. Biased facial recognition tech from Caesar’s Casino incorrectly matched Prince Holmes to a stranger that had stolen his ID and had been charged with a crime. Prince has been a dedicated community leader for over 15 years. Pairing this technology with the cognitive bias from police, who prematurely blasted his drivers license on social meida accusing him of a crime he did not commit, lead to marginalized community members bearing the brunt of these ‘mistakes.’
NOPD has made no attempts at a public apology or correction.
